THE LIGHTHOUSE

LEGAL // TERMS

Terms of Service

Effective August 7, 2026 · The Lighthouse · lighthouserobotics.xyz

01The agreement

These terms are an agreement between you and The Lighthouse (“The Lighthouse,” “we,” “us”), a builder community and learning platform operated from Houston, Texas. They govern your use of lighthouserobotics.xyz, Lighthouse Learn, and other services we operate (together, the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, don’t use the Service.

02Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required by Discord in your region, if higher) to use the Service. If you are under 18, you may use the Service only with the permission of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to these terms on your behalf.

03Accounts & Discord sign-in

Lighthouse Learn uses Discord for sign-in, and our community lives on Discord. You are responsible for your Discord account and everything done through it on the Service, and your use of Discord itself is governed by Discord’s own terms. Keep your account secure and your information accurate; don’t impersonate others or share access to gated areas.

04Companion reading

Lighthouse Learn is companion material: original lessons, questions, and review scheduling designed to be used alongside textbooks and other works that you obtain yourself through lawful means. The platform does not provide, reproduce, or license those underlying works, and it is not a substitute for reading them.

All referenced titles remain the property of their respective authors and publishers. The Lighthouse is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by them, and references are for identification only.

05License & acceptable use

We grant you a personal, non-commercial, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service. In return, you agree not to:

06Community & roles

Our Discord server and other community spaces have their own posted rules, which are part of these terms while you’re there. Community roles and designations (such as Builder) are granted at our discretion, carry no monetary value, and can be modified or revoked at any time. We may moderate, remove content, or restrict access to keep the community healthy.

You keep ownership of things you create and share — your build logs, projects, and posts. By sharing them in our community spaces, you give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host and display them within the Service and to feature them in Lighthouse community content, with credit.

07Intellectual property

The Service and its original content — including the lesson and question content on Lighthouse Learn, our site design, the beacon, and The Lighthouse name and marks — belong to The Lighthouse and are protected by law. Third-party names, marks, and works belong to their respective owners.

If you believe content on the Service infringes your rights, email us with the details (what the work is, where it appears, and how to reach you) and we’ll review it promptly.

08Promotions & giveaways

We may run contests, giveaways, and sponsored campaigns from time to time. Each may have additional posted rules; where those rules conflict with these terms for that promotion, the posted rules control. No purchase is necessary unless stated otherwise, promotions are void where prohibited, and sponsors are not responsible for a promotion unless expressly stated.

09Build at your own risk

The Lighthouse is about building real things, and real things can hurt you. Electronics, batteries, motors, actuators, power tools, and fabrication equipment carry genuine risks. Everything on the Service is provided for educational purposes only and is not professional engineering advice. You are solely responsible for working safely, using appropriate protective equipment, verifying designs before relying on them, and complying with the laws, codes, and regulations that apply to you. You assume all risk arising from anything you build or attempt based on the Service.

10Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don’t warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that its content is complete or accurate.

11Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, The Lighthouse and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for all claims relating to the Service is limited to fifty US dollars (US $50). Some jurisdictions don’t allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

12Termination

You can stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access at any time, including for violations of these terms or community rules. Sections that by their nature should survive — including 04, 07, and 09 through 13 — survive termination.

13Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Harris County, Texas, and you consent to their jurisdiction. Before filing anything, contact us — most issues can be sorted out with an email.

14Changes

We may update these terms. When we do, we’ll post the updated version here with a new effective date, and give notice on the site or in our Discord for material changes. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept them.
